All applicants for our preschool classrooms must be at least 3 years old by August 31st to begin school in September. If space is available children are invited to apply to the program when they turn three during the school year. Students age eligible to attend Kindergarten (five years old on or before August 31st, 2012) are not eligible to attend NECP. In order to ensure fairness, applicants are selected by lottery and classroom location and schedule are also determined by a lottery. Specific requests for classroom location and schedule are taken into consideration but not guaranteed.

The preschool generally follows the Newton Public Schools Calendar with a few exceptions.
TUITION INFORMATION: NECP tuition is determined by the Newton School Committee each fiscal year. Below are the rates for the past two school years:
2011-2012 School Year 8:30-1:30 Program $6,521.00, 9:00-12:00 Program $4503.00
2010-2011 School Year: 8:30-1:30 Program $5720, 9:00-12:00 Program $3950
Staff:
Each class is staffed with a Masters level teacher and at least one teacher assistant. Speech and language, occupational, applied behavior analysis, and physical therapists are involved in all of the classrooms too. Our professional staff also includes vision and mobility specialists, a school psychologist, a social worker, and a school nurse.

Preschool Summer Program
Our integrated preschool summer program for 3, 4 and 5 year olds includes children with and without disabilities. Classrooms include 14 to16 children with a variety of learning styles.
The goals of our program are:
- To include all children in an inclusive, supportive, and engaging learning environment.
- To promote a love of play, friendship and learning, and to meet the individual and unique needs of all children.
